3D Printed 2020 Christmas Ornament Designed in Fusion 360

Updated: Jul 14, 2021

I regularly post Fusion 360 tutorials and projects to my youtube channel.

It’s that time of year! Time to design and 3D print my yearly Christmas ornament. As I sat down to think of what ornament to make this year, I immediately knew what I was going to make. I present to you the 2020 commemorative Christmas ornament.

I’m going to enjoy placing this ornament on my tree this year and every year to follow with 2020 in the rearview mirror.

It’s a fun design to make and 3D print and along the way we’ll look at using the Emboss tool vs the Extrude tool. We’ll also look at my approach to getting that perfect friction fit when trying to design two parts that need to fit together. This approach always seems to follow the Goldilocks story - too loose, too tight, just right.

Follow the video below to make your own and have fun with it.

I’ve made ten so far to give to friends and family!

My big aha! moment with Fusion 360 happened when I finally understood how to use Constraints. Get my free Fusion 360 Constraint Cheat Sheet and see what I mean.
